Tag Customers for Reviews in Shopify | Enhance Customer Loyalty
Tag Shopify Customers Who Leave a Review
2 min setup
No coding required
Runs automatically
Easily track and reward customers who leave a review by tagging them in Shopify. This MESA workflow template integrates with Judge.me to automatically add a tag to a customer’s profile when they submit a review. Use these tags to personalize future communication, express appreciation, or offer special incentives, fostering loyalty and customer engagement.
How it works
2 steps to start automatically tagging customers when they leave reviews for your products
Review Created
App connector: [Judge.me](/content/apps/judgeme/integrate "View Judge.me integration page"/index.html)• Time to complete: 0 minutes (Auto-configured)
Why this matters: This trigger monitors Judge.me for new reviews and captures the reviewer's information to identify which customer left the review.
When someone submits a product review through Judge.me, this step automatically captures the review details including the reviewer's external ID, which corresponds to your Shopify customer ID. The trigger runs immediately when a review is published and passes the customer identification data to the next step. No configuration is needed - it connects to your existing Judge.me integration and monitors all review activity across your store.
Customer Add Tag
App connector: [Shopify](/content/apps/shopify/integrate "View Shopify integration page"/index.html)• Time to complete: 1 minute
Why this matters: This action applies a specific tag to the customer who left the review, allowing you to segment and target reviewers for future marketing or customer service efforts.
You'll configure what tag gets added to customers when they leave reviews. In the "tag" field, enter the exact tag name you want applied, such as "Reviewer", "Product Feedback", or "Engaged Customer". The step uses the reviewer's external ID from the previous step to locate the correct customer in Shopify and applies your chosen tag. Once tagged, you can use Shopify's customer segmentation tools to create targeted email campaigns, offer special discounts, or prioritize customer service for active reviewers.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if a customer leaves multiple reviews?
Each new review triggers the workflow independently, so the same customer will receive the tag multiple times. Shopify automatically prevents duplicate tags, so customers who already have the tag won't get it added again - they'll simply keep their existing tag.
Can I tag customers based on the star rating of their review?
Not with this basic template, but you can add a Filter step after the trigger to check the review rating and only apply tags for reviews meeting certain criteria, like 4+ stars for "Happy Customer" or 2 stars or below for "Needs Attention".
Will this work with reviews from other platforms besides Judge.me?
This specific template only works with Judge.me reviews since it uses Judge.me's trigger system. For other review platforms like Yotpo or Stamped, you'd need to use their respective triggers, though the customer tagging action would remain the same.
